Something that keeps away the January Blues for me is a dog, exercise and getting out in the sunshine. After loosing our Rio the German shorthaired pointer we decided to go down the rescue route so here is Marley. The new addition to Pretty Vintage House, A Labrador Dashound or Labdash for short, and yes he is short ! After picking up from the rescue centre he lasted 2 mins in the hatchback of the car so our first stop was to buy a dog crate. Luckily he was crate trained. He's well settled in and part of the family now, He loves chasing birds and balls and don't be fooled by those little legs, other dog walkers have commented on how fast he can run. He also likes going in the van to the auctions, guarding all my vintage finds. here's the Facebook link for Lincolnshire rescue kennels www.facebook.com/LincolnshireRescueKennels/

So sorry not to blog during February, it's been one of those months! Hopefully the mad march hare will bring some more stability and normality. After suffering with a bad tooth since last September my appointment for it's removal finally arrived. due to complications I had to have a anesthetic which knocked me out but I highly recommend, if only all dentist appointments could be this way. I didn't feel a thing! Not only have we been supporting elderly relatives which includes a 2 1/2 hour round trip we've had a very poorly dog and unfortunately we had her put to sleep last week. I hope she find lots of ready salted crisps in doggie heaven. As you may imagine like any deaf old dog she could still hear a crisp packet open 3 rooms away with the all the doors closed and the TV on full blast. RIP Rio 2004 to 2016 you will be missed. On a more lighter note if your into period drama's like Victoria, look at these photographs my hubby took of the latest series being filmed at Beverly Minster last week. Here's something I found from the Victorian era 1896 to be exact. How lovely it must of looked when opened on Christmas morning. How wonderful that it's survived after all it is only paper. I'm very lucky to own it, if only for a little while as it is a very rare item. Wishing you all a lovely March and fingers crossed for some more rare and vintage finds.
After having a sort out in January making space in my work area and store, I've been treasure hunting and now have more teacups than before. I think pretty vintage teacups are my drug! This lot below is just from last Saturday......my hubby may never let me out unsupervised again! Here's some I found in my sort out and have now listed in my etsy store. Plus these quirky teapot with a sliding lid.

(A 14 yr old School girl trying to raise £4000 to go and help children in Mongolia.) www.facebook.com/aliciasasiaexpedition/?ref=bookmarks

Quick get Sharing!! www.facebook.com/The-Gallery-something-old-something-new-542405639190386/?fref=ts You may already know I love up-cycling and re-purposing giving vintage items a new lease of life. But I don't just work with china and glass. (Which reminds me I'm currently working on a new idea which involves door knobs but you'll have to wait a little longer for those.) I also work with vintage vinyl creating quirky retro record clocks, bowls, stands and vases, using all sizes of records. Here is some stands from last year. One of my favourites is when I mold a single sized record to create a stand/base for the record stand, here's a pic showing the stand upside down so you can see the single molded record. Here's one I created for a customer's ball/party last year as table decor and now I've finally got around to listing and offering it for sale to others. So you know where to come if you fancy something a little different what ever it's large party decor or just a gift. But for now I'll get back to working with door knobs.
