The weathers cold and windy, the nights are long and the days are gloomy. Everyone's skint after Christmas and often full of coughs, colds and other illnesses. So tomorrow Thursday 12th January think about our pharmacists dishing out advice and medications, as it's National Pharmacist day. I often wonder how they're never ill themselves coming into contact with us and our germs. So remember to give them a smile and a simple thank you if you have to visit, with the good karma helping you heal that much quicker. Here's my creations for bird loving pharmacists everywhere, a chemist shop teapot bird house.

I hope you've all had a fantastic new year and went back to work today with a spring in your step. Okay that was a step too far maybe dragged to work kicking and screaming ;) I must admit Pretty Vintage House took some alarm battering this morning. Pretty Vintage house is loccated in North Lincolnshire on the south bank of the humber so not far as the crow flies from Hull city of culture 2017,. although it would be long swim if not for the Bridge. Now I'm not originally from here and when I moved had a lot of "your moving where?" Hull? are you mad? And obviously I'll always have a fondness for my roots further south in Lincolnshire as I'm a true yellow belly. But Hull does have a lot to offer just like any city it has a great night life, parks, shopping, museums and galleries, the old town, marina and more. The people are so very friendly and it was strange when I first moved here people who I didn't know talking to me all the time. I just love the accent the way they say Hessle road, vodka n coke, horse wash which is hos wosh, and dead bird is dead bod. I can't do the others as I'm not fluent in Hull. But I do like to wind up my Hull friends that their Bread cake is in fact a bread bun or a bread roll but never a cake. As I'm sure your aware Hull has started it's celebrations and we manged to view the fireworks from the south bank and last night took a ride over to see the light installations. Here are just a few pics as it was so very cold I didn't like taking my glove off to use my phone. It was fantastic and I could have stayed to watch it again and again! The blitz part was one of my favourites. You can view again as every installation is repeated every 10 minutes or so. The light installations are on all week if you fancy a trip to "ULL" more info here but do wrap up warm!

Only a few hours to go until the big day. I hope you're all ready, pour yourself a drink and enjoy. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from Pretty Vintage House.pictures from pinterest.
I had to share the white tree reminds me of my grandma's tree which matched her white carpet! How she kept it white I'll never know. Here's wishing you lots of lovely memories made this Christmas. It's busy here at Pretty Vintage House, fufilling those christmas orders, I keep noticeing all the decorations going up in and on homes in the area. I think I'll have to get cracking and get mine done. Are you an early bird with your trimmings and decorations. I know someone who waits untill Christmas eve when the children have gone to bed so it's more magical on Christmas day. Although I think that's a little too late for me, if it's not done by then it's not going to be! Here's my tree from last year. I haven't managed the outside lights up yet either in fact they stayed in the boxes last year but I did make this display for the dining table, using vintage glass cake stands. We have lots of vintage Christmas decorations for sale in our etsy store, I've even kept a few back for my tree sorry I could not resist. There's something for everyone from mercury glass, to more novelty type Santa's and latest to come in are the Swedish style straw ornaments., here's just a sample.
If you saw my last blog you'll know my daughter's working hard to raise £4000 for a expedition to Mongolia. Last weekend she did two Christmas stalls enabling her to bank a massive £271! Which is fabulous when she was only selling £1 and £2 items. So thank you all who bought something. Here's some pics of the weekend below and for you vintage lover's what about the scooter riding santa's.
If you visited my blog before you know my daughter is fundraising to go to Mongolia and help children there. £4000 is needed so it's a lot of hard work when your only 14 yrs old. If you haven't please pop over and view/like her facebook page .www.facebook.com/aliciasasiaexpedition/ This weekend she is doing two Christmas markets, Saturday she will be at The Gallery, something old, something new in Barton upon Humber. www.facebook.com/The-Gallery-something-old-something-new-542405639190386/?fref=ts Sunday outside Appetites in Sleaford. www.facebook.com/pages/Appetites/146921162010338?fref=ts We've got a bit of a poop theme going on with both snowman and reindeer poop. What about these gift tags, reindeer lollipops, candy canes, chocolate dippers and stirrers for your hot drinks, and you can't have a stall without reindeer food. She's also done some Christmas themed bird feeders, aren't they cute? Well the garden birds need a Christmas dinner too! Don't forget your snowman soup, we've got that too and we are having a tombola on the Sunday. I think she's done an amazing job even if it'll take me until Christmas to clean up the mess she's left in her wake.
Well it's that time of year to dig out your winter accessories., but there's no reason why you can't still be stylish. Nothing says style more than vintage clothing and accessories, it's true what they say "they don't make em like they used too!" I love these vintage gloves in a slightly longer length. and I'm not on my own as they've already sold. Woolly gloves are lovely for keeping you warm while walking the dog, cheering your son playing footie and such like but sometimes you need something a bit more chic and here are some that fit perfectly with many an outfit.
Who loves a bit of Strictly Come dancing? Saturday nights in just wouldn't be the same with out it. The glitz, glamour and those fit toned dancer figures are enough to make you ditch the weekend take away. I'd take up some dancing classes but I'm not sure I can drag my hubby there! It must be lovely to go to any event and be able to dance to anything. However I'll probably have to stick to the motto "dance like nobody's watching" while praying they're not. Here's my latest Christmas baubles which would give any tree that strictly edge. www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Prettyvintagehouse?ref=listing-shop2-all-items-count§ion_id=17362978
Lots more vintage Christmas items in my Etsy store but until next Saturday Keep dancing! This lovely vintage glass Chance plate reminds I must buy my poppy tomorrow. have you bought yours? It'll be the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month this Friday so if you haven't you best get one. As we will remember them on Sunday too and I'm sure the bugle player will bring a tear to my eye as it always does. Thinking of all those who gave all and some who are still doing so. If only we could be free of war. Here's the British legion site for more info on fundraising e..t.c. www.britishlegion.org.uk/
