What with the rubbish weather we could be forgiven for thinking it's winter not summer. This morning I thought I'd been asleep through summer and woken in December! After finding a sale in my shop of a vintage Santa Christmas tree ornament. I wish I was so organised but no I'll be panicking like most of the population two weeks before the big day. Here's the Santa in question now I'm better crack on and get organised.

Well yesterday it was National sunglasses day, Good job it wasn't today there would be no chance of wearing them. Luckily the rain held off for me to watch my son's sports day at school. I've been feeling sorry for myself the last few days after being poorly but cheered up no end yesterday when I received this message from a customer.
GOOD NEWS!!! Just now, 11:35 Pacific Standard Time, I received the teapot in perfect condition!! YAY! So happy. Now you can put your mind at ease! :) I will be posting a sterling review as soon as Etsy lets me! And thanks again for working with me on this. It's lovely to hear that your customers are happy and since running my own business I now always leave reviews for other small businesses. It's not just for promotion but to put a smile on their face. remember they're not multi million pound companies run by fat cats but hard working people with normal lives trying to provide for their family while providing a great service and often a unique product. Here's the teapot the customer received, a custom order for them to complete a Alice in Wonderland diorama, see my previous post for more info on a diorama. Wishing you all a happy summer solstice, enjoy the 17 hours of daylight an if you're lucky some sunshine. As Today Monday, June 20th. The sun rose at 4.45am and sunset will happen at 10.34pm. So make sure you have some fun as in 6 months time the shortest day of the year will only be 7 hours and 49 minutes of day light. I would quite like to sit out in the garden with a glass of wine and admire the Strawberry moon that also should appear tonight. Here's my new swing and renovated corner if only it would stop raining long enough for me to sit on it. Well there's always next year!
In the mornings I enjoy a fast long walk around the village when I've dropped of my son at school. Then I feel ready to set to work after the rush of getting everybody of to work and school. This morning I spotted this cat in a bird house/table, the birds were not impressed. Luckily my latest bird feeder design is cat proof and pretty too.
Hope you've enjoyed the weekend folks despite the rain .I spent some time researching some china I found on Thursday. I feel a bit like Gibbs off NCIS and his gut (American TV Navy investigation drama, if you've not heard of it) and had a gut feeling to buy them. I'm pleased I did as it turns out they were made in 1844! I'm pretty sure that makes them antique not vintage. They were made by Thomas Dimmock, of Kaolin ware in the Mulberry Bohemia pattern which was more common in blue. I was so happy to find these, I'll not be creating anything with these, there's too much history behind them. Only one is chipped out of six which isn't bad for over 170 years of age.. It amazes me that they have lasted this long and I wonder what they've seen and heard over the years. Were they part of a large set in a rich Victorian house or were they some prized possessions of someone of lesser means? We'll never know but I can't help wondering, it's part of what draws me to vintage china.
I've recently finished a custom order teacup table lamp. All the vintage china were supplied by the customer.and they chose the order of the teacups. Here is the lamp in stages. The customer has also opted to buy her own shade which is a brilliant idea as it enables you to get that one off piece of home decor. The shop I sell in has a lamp shade designer and they are stunning .The gallery, something old something new. Here's the lamp in it's new home with a shade, which is great news for me. I can relax knowing it arrived safely, the very first time I posted one I didn't sleep due to worrying about it. I've got better and I only use Royal Mail special delivery services who are more expensive than other couriers but it's worth it.
How's everyone feeling now we're back at work after the bank holiday? The weather's not helping so miserable here. If your lucky enough to see the sun I'm not jealous much! Especially with the children off school for half term. It means more money spent to keep them amused when its wet. Walks, picnics, the beach and bike riding just don't have the same appeal for me in the cold. On the plus side I did get my garden sorted over the weekend. I spent the last few sunny days painting my garden, if it didn't move it got it including the dog! But for now I'll just admire my hard work from the window and at least I don't have to water the pots!
