Well after a recent treasure hunt I've been busy creating teapot bird houses. What do you think to this cheeky chappy? Lion king teapot. He's bound to bring a smile to anyone's face and I'm sure the birds will love him. all my bird houses have holes as recommended by RSPB suitable for small garden birds like Sparrows and Tits. the spouts are filled in to prevent rain getting in, the teapot is attached with metal fittings so will not come apart. The lid is secured and a hole ready for attaching to a tree, wall or fence. I have lots more designs in my bird house/feeder website section. www.prettyvintagehouse.com/bird-houses-and-feeders.html here's another recent make, I just had to buy this teapot it's so quirky and different perfect for a bird lover or angler.
Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend, I was lucky enough to spend it in Yorkshire for a wedding. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Carter.. The Bride and the day was beautiful and it raised funds for various charities. Instead of wedding favours we all received a charity badge with this note. what a brilliant idea. As you can see my champagne glass badge was for Macmillan Cancer support www.macmillan.org.uk but there was other charities too.. I think they did a fantastic job of picking badges to suit the guest as I love a glass of something bubbly. We also raised some funds for my daughters expedition to Mongolia www.facebook.com/aliciasasiaexpedition/ Please check out her page as she is only 14 and working hard to raise the £4000 needed. here's some pics from the day with the vintage scooter. car, the winner of Alicia's fundraising card and a wicker teacup I spotted in the hotel. Well you know I love teacups!
Well I've had a few treasure hunts recently some good some not so good, I'm loving these vintage gloves and so must other's as the mustard yellow ones have already sold. The customer who bought the gloves will rock vintage chic, it will complete her vintage outfit for a special trip to London.
I was surprised to find these vintage snakeskin handbags recently and after a little research I'm convinced they're real but then I'm no expert. Vintage china is more my thing. And who couldn't resist this cute heart shaped purse, well me obviously! Enjoy the rest of the week folks, mid week tomorrow so only one day away from treasure hunting day and hopefully some fabulous finds, Well I think it's time to get the thermals, gloves, boots e.t.c. out I've been to the auction today in search of vintage treasures and nearly froze to death in the process. It's in a hanger with no walls so not great for wet, windy cold weather. However I think I may have some treasures to share with you another day. Here's a pretty china cake slice from a previous hunt. I'm still cold now and I've been home hours so only one thing for it. If I can't have sunshine and flips flops then cake it is! This one should do, just wish I could bake, mine would be flatter than the cake slice :) Cake from link below
www.sainsburysmagazine.co.uk/recipes/baking/special-occasion-cakes/item/orange-cranberry-and-white-chocolate-gateau Just a quick blog tonight as I'm sorting through recent treasure hunt finds which I hope to share with you next week. If you're at a loose end and fancy a trip around the largest fair in Europe, it starts tonight in Hull until Saturday midnight 17th October 2016. With some of the largest travelling machines in the world, it certainly will make you scream! It is closed all day Sunday though. We go every year and love it, the worst thing is deciding which rides to go on and which treats to buy. Our tummies and pockets are not big enough for everything. From traditional candy floss, toffee apples and brandy snaps to Chinese food, German sausages and those chocolate covered pancakes are not to be missed! I can also recommend the ride you can see 3rd pic above and again in the pic below although it does get a little cold up there. Have a great weekend what ever you do, I'll be mostly screaming!
No treasure hunts, fabulous finds or new creations this weekend as I've had a few days off and spent some quality time with the family. Visiting Matlock Bath in Derbyshire and what a pretty part of the country it is. So much so we want to go back and explore more. We chose Matlock Bath as I had seen photo's on social media of their illuminations along the river. This is only done for the weekend evenings in September and October but was started 119 years ago. A family of four entrance is only £12 so value for money, especially on the Saturday evenings as there is a firework display too. These illuminations are fabulous to see and we thoroughly enjoyed it, it's very family oriented with some entertainment for the younger children, small rides, traditional games like hook a duck. However if your passed that age it does mean a bit of standing around waiting so make sure you dress up warm and comfy. There's food available, hot and cold drinks although not the cheapest in town but then they never are at these types of do's. For more info check out www.visitpeakdistrict.com/Matlock-Bath-Matlock-Bath-Illuminations-/details/?dms=3&feature=1&venue=6124382 As you can see it gets busy but everyone can get to see the boats and the fireworks. However I've not got any pics of the fireworks, I only had my mobile so if you want to see them you'll have to go and see them before October's over.
